From my first role in credit card sales to my work today as Group CFO, I’ve asked myself a simple question: If this were my company and I were the CEO, what decision would I make? That question has shaped how I work. I think about the business as a whole, consider what the decision means for the customer, and take responsibility for what happens next.

My approach

Today, I lead finance across multiple companies at Sumathi Holdings. One of my strengths is knowing when to wear a different hat. When I sit with a sales team to review a deal, I look at the margin and cash flow, but I also ask whether our people can deliver what we’ve promised and whether the terms work for the customer. I bring data to the discussion, weigh the risks against the potential rewards, and listen to the people who will have to make the decision work.

I’m also interested in how AI can support that work, particularly in spotting patterns in operating data, reducing time spent preparing reports and giving teams more time to act on what they learn.

My approach comes down to a principle I believe in: Own it. Deliver it. For me, that means staying involved after the decision, working through the obstacles and following through on the outcome.
